Cycling Itineraries in Tuscany

Here are just a few cycling itineraries for road and mountain bikes, perfect for discovering the environment and natural attractions of the Etruscan Coast.
STARTING POINT: Poggio all'Agnello
DESTINATION: San Vincenzo
Km: approx 13 (one way)
Continue through the scrub and cross a small stream with the bike, until you arrive at Podere Tuscania. From here, proceed towards San Vincenzo and enter the Natural Reserve of Rimigliano. At the end of the Reserve, get back onto the asphalted SP23 until you arrive at San Vincenzo.
Take the SP 23 motorway "Viale della Principessa" in the direction of San Vincenzo. Continue along Viale della Principessa until you arrive at the roundabout entrance to San Vincenzo. NOTE: Viale della Principessa is very busy during peak season.
STARTING POINT: Poggio all'Agnello
DESTINATION: Poggio all'Agnello
Km: approx 40
2. Take the SP 23 motorway in the direction of SAN VINCENZO.
3. After a few metres, follow directions for VENTURINA and turn left into SP23ter / "Strada delle Caldanelle".
4. Continue along all of the SP23ter in the direction of Venturina until the intersection with Via Aurelia Nord SP39.
5. Turn left into Via Aurelia Nord.
6. Turn right into Via di Citerna.
7. Turn left into Via di Venturina/SP20 and continue along the SP20.
8. Cross through Campiglia Marittima and continue along the SP 20 in the direction of San Vincenzo.
9. Turn right into Via Aurelia Sud/SP39, follow the SP39 and cross 2 roundabouts until you arrive in San Vincenzo.
10. In San Vincenzo follow directions for "Piombino" and turn into the Strada della Principessa/SP23.
11. After a short distance the cycle track begins and continues until inside the Park of Rimigliano
12. At the end of the cycle track, get back onto the Strada della Principessa in the direction of Baratti
13. Go past the Baratti/Populonia intersection and turn left towards Populonia Station.
NOTE: Via della Principessa is very busy during peak season

DESTINATION: Suvereto
Km: approx 21 (one way)
2. Take the SP 23 motorway in the direction of SAN VINCENZO.
3. After a few metres, follow directions for VENTURINA and turn left into the SP23ter / "Strada delle Caldanelle".
4. Continue along all of the SP23ter in the direction of Venturina until the intersection with Via Aurelia Nord SP39.
5. Turn left into Via Aurelia Nord.
6. Turn right into Via di Citerna.
7. Turn left into Via di Venturina/SP20
8. Turn right into Via Cafaggio/SP21
9. Turn right into Via delle Cascine/SP21
10. Turn left into Via della Repubblica/SS398 and follow the SS398
11. Continue following directions for Suvereto.
STARTING POINT: Poggio all'Agnello
DESTINATION: Piombino
Km: approx 10 (one way)
2. Turn left into the SP23 in the direction of Piombino.
3. Continue straight in the direction of Piombino until you arrive in the City Centre.
NOTE: 2/3 of this trail are uphill.

11. Turn right into Via Casalpiano/SP21
12. Turn left into Via dei Ribocchi and remain on this road
13. Veer left into Via di Casalappi/ SP22 and continue towards Venturina.
14. Turn right into Via Aurelia Sud, continue towards Venturina, pass through the centre in the direction of San Vincenzo
15. Immediately after passing the Terme Del Sole (Thermal Baths of the Sun), turn left in the direction of Baratti and re-trace the initial route to re-enter Poggio.

Head towards the direction of Populonia station and turn into Viale Etruria. Take the SP 23 motorway "Viale della Principessa" in the direction of San Vincenzo. Near the Pizzeria/Rest stop "Al Tramonto", enter into the pine forest (paying careful attention when crossing to remain towards the left). Continue along the slightly visible dirt track which runs parallel to Viale della Principessa, passing the Camping ground "Park Albatros" (on the right of the SP 23).Continue through the scrub and cross a small stream with the bike, until you arrive at Podere Tuscania. From here, proceed towards San Vincenzo and enter the Natural Reserve of Rimigliano. At the end of the Reserve, get back onto the asphalted SP23 until you arrive at San Vincenzo.
